Provincial and prefectural media reporters visited Shuangfeng Village of Lingxi Town in Yongshun County on the morning of October 13, the first Tujia village in China, to promote the third Xiangxi Tourism Development Conference.
Shuangfeng Village, as an ancient village with a history of over a thousand years, has national intangible cultural heritage projects such as Maogusi dance, hand-waving dance, Tujia Spring Festival, Daliuzi, and Tujia brocade weaving skills.
It is one of the most well-preserved Tujia villages. In 2019, it was included among the seventh batch of famous Chinese historical and cultural villages.
This year, in order to welcome the third Xiangxi Tourism Development Conference to be held in Yongshun County, the county has built new tourist facilities such as a cliff viewing platform and walking trails, and renovated residential buildings and Tujia stilted buildings with an investment of 120 million yuan.
At the entrance of the village, villagers welcomed guests with drums and gongs as well as hand-waving dance.
A journalist said that Shuangfeng Village has beautiful natural scenery and rich ethnic customs. In the future, they will increase efforts to promote Shuangfeng Village to advance the high-quality development of the cultural and tourism industry in Yongshun County.
The 3rd Xiangxi Tourism Development Conference will kick off in Yongshun County from November 7 to 9. The county has implemented 52 key projects. As of now, 46 projects have been completed, and the remaining 6 projects will have been completed by October 25.
Meanwhile, the county has strengthened tourism promotion, cultivated tourism management entities, improved tourism environment, and promoted civilized management of scenic areas. From January to September this year, the county received 8.7377 million tourists, and generated a tourism revenue of 8.829 billion yuan, an increase of 9.95% and 9.03% year on year respectively.
